Indigo buntings

This year, for the first time, I had the pleasure of getting close enough to some indigo buntings to get some decent pictures. Actually, they came right up to our feeder! Normally they had been very shy and skittish, and the only pictures I had been able to get were from a distance and consequently somewhat blurry. Anyone else had luck with these beautiful creatures?

I saw a bird today that I never saw before and I tried to look it up online but could not find it. The head of the bird was dark and the body a lighter gray and the tip of the fan of the tail was yellow. Does anyone know what kind of bird this was? The bird I saw was the size of a cardinal. Also it seemed to like the pine trees in our yard.
I would love to know what this bird was. Any ideas?? Thanks!
